Shopping at asian markets is a great way to find less expensive gluten-free products and wild-caught, canned fish. The asian markets have coconut products and rice noodles and many other items which are gluten-free. It is a matter of reading the labels closely and being able to handle the smell. Just like the health food stores, asian markets have a distinct smell which I believe is a strong mix of fish and spices.
Over the weekend, I found coconut milk for $1.20 compared to $2.90 at the market and a huge tub of curry paste for $2.00 compared to a small bottle of curry paste for $3.98 at the market. I had to closely examine the ingredients, but both were very basic and gluten free.
